The Elite helps out

The Elite is more than a hip-hop based organization we believe in the wellness of the community. We as people cannot prosper unless we help people around us. The Elite along with other Morgan state university organizations and individuals will be participation in a 2 week long community service initiative. From November 9th to the 19 there will various community service projects and programs held by the Morgan view housing management. To wrap it up there will be a event in Morgan View on the 20th to show appreciation for the efforts put forth. All are welcome to join .. if interested e mail the hiphopelite@gmail.com

The look out!..

So I stay on the look out of artist on the come up, but what I like are artist that don’t really fit in the same ol’ mold ..
So a couple weeks ago I wrote about this artist named Mike Posner. “He has a mix of hip-hop, R&B, soul and alternative feel; imagine Asher Roth, and Andre 3000 ( when he sings) and you’ll have an idea of Mike Posner.”(Check the older post to get some more info on him), but another artist caught my attention. Big Sean, this Delaware native stays bananas with lyrics and flow. But il let you be the judge.

Id like to say that when I get in the studio I get this crazy, but Ryan Lesley shows a side of R&B that I miss from most artists. The original music and live instruments make this man a heavy hitter. Plus he cam out of an ivy league school. He not only sings but thethe layers and dynamic of his work is inspiration for any artist/producer. Honestly the musical ability shown in this video keeps me hungry to get to that next level. So I figured other people would feel the same way. Ya, I know it’s not the newest video, but it never dropped in value; the video and song is FIAH (fire)!

i feel you. but when kids have kids the fetus is still febal. life depicted like moves with no regal. problamatic thoughts surve no equal . love is a desire among people . so what is it really .. it was ripped from a fortrist of life were a mother yells all night . 5 fingers right 5 left . your money starts to depleat within the first breath.with no ring young girls are have still dont know what to expect. all they have is live .with life and debt. this world money power respect. debt rules everything around me .d.r.e.a.m. or nightmare. when beging say please. when god blesses you still expect a sneeze

when 2 people meet there can honestly be a serge between souls, the inter tangling and intermingling between body, lives and organs, as easy as some one may be able to move into an someones life 2 hearts can be join together and when that union of stars the universe bonds breaks hearts will be torn from love like a newborn from its mother .. leaving some ones heart tatters bruised broken and ripped ... love sucks! but what do i know im drunk.

Not everyone that spits a verse goes by the stereotype of “rappers” Gym class Heroes show a side of hip-hop seldom noticed. Don’t let the look fool you Travis (the lead singer/MC) is known to bang out couple punch line hard enough to drop jaws. They mix alternative rock, a lil bit of pop, funk, and R&B with lyrics to make a unique combination that demands attention. They have toured a wide assortment of artists, ranging from well known’s like N.E.R.D and The Roots to unsigned Indy rock groups. Some may have just heard about them from their resent songs with “fall out boy” but they have been in the game since ’97. Recently they have been on tracks with Wale, Busta Rhymes, Dr.Dre, lil Wayne and other heavy hitters in hip-hop. Through the hype they know that hip-hop is an art, Gym Class shows how it has evolved and is continuing to expand through other genres.

i was caught off guard by her friendship,
fell for her mind,
resided in her thoughts,
until she spoke,
than i saw the world through her eyes like windows,
i was blinded by the lights,
so backs turned,
and she cleared her thoughts..
NOW life outside of "brooklyn" hurts!

When I came to Morgan I looked up to this man as soon as I heard about him. He had so many accomplishments and became a University professor before some people get their first car. Yet when I meet him he was so down to earth. Seeing his accomplishments and ambitions have definitely inspired me to not only be a better writer and artist, but also to be a better me. I am now lucky enough to have his class (though I am always late lol) and learn tools of the trade from him directly.
